1. Our Core Privacy Commitment
OurStranger was designed with privacy as its foundation. We do not require accounts. We do not collect your name, email, or phone number. Conversations are temporary and disappear after sessions end.
2. Information We Collect
We collect limited technical information necessary to operate the platform: • Temporary session identifiers (disappear when you close the browser) • IP addresses (retained for up to 30 days for moderation) • Device fingerprint data (used for anti-abuse purposes) • Temporary usernames (exist only for the session duration) • Reports and moderation actions (retained for safety review) • Anonymous analytics events (no personal identifiers attached)
3. What We Do Not Collect
We do not collect: • Your real name • Email address • Phone number • Location data • Social profile information • Chat message content (beyond moderation reports) • Browsing history outside OurStranger
4. Chat Messages
Standard chat messages are not stored permanently. They exist in memory only for the duration of the active session. When a session ends, messages are deleted. Messages included in moderation reports may be retained temporarily for review.
5. Media Files
Images and voice notes shared during conversations are stored on Cloudflare R2 for a limited time (typically 24 hours) and then automatically deleted. Media is not associated with any persistent personal identity.
6. Safety and Moderation
To protect our community, we retain limited moderation-related data including reports, abuse events, and temporary bans. This data is reviewed by our moderation team and deleted after it is no longer needed.
7. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services: • Cloudflare (CDN, security, and R2 media storage) • LiveKit (voice note infrastructure) • Railway or Fly.io (server hosting) • Vercel (frontend hosting) Each provider has their own privacy policy governing their services.
8. Cookies
We use minimal functional cookies and localStorage to maintain your session state within the browser. We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies.
9. Your Rights
Because we do not store personal data tied to identities, traditional data subject requests (access, deletion) are not applicable to most data. If you have a specific concern, contact us.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated on the platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
